Our Pastor | Calvin Jenkins

Calvin Jenkins is married to Melody Jenkins and they have three beautiful children. Their names are Joshua, Christen and Caitlyn. They currently reside in North Gwinnett County and believe that God has said to begin a ministry in this area.

Calvin began this journey at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. William L. Sheals. While serving there he was allowed to oversee the B.A.S.I.C (Brothers And Sisters In Christ) unmarried ministry, Vice Chair on the ministerial staff and assist the Senior Pastor in the weekly Bible Study as back up. In 2000 Calvin was married to “the one compatible to him”, Melody. They began to seek God about where they needed to be and in 2002 there were lead to Northeast Community Church.

It was there that the seed was planted about starting churches. Pastor Gerald McPhail shared with Calvin that planting other churches was a part of his vision. While carrying out his duties as Associate Pastor over Christian Education the relationship between Pastor McPhail and Calvin grew. The conversation began to surface about the possibility of him being a church planter.

In 2004 at a retreat a presenter said, “We must learn to say yes to the next question of Christ no matter what it is.” It was at that time Calvin said yes to the possibility of planting a church. In November 2006 the first bible study was held. In March 2007 formulation began and “Leading The Way Community Church” was born. Calvin believes that relationships in the body of Christ are vital, the proper atmosphere must be obtained and accountability is crucial. He believes that the world is in search of real answers and the church should be where those answers are found.
